Directing with Screen Actors Group Ōtautahi

You will be paid for your time. It's also a great opportunity for you to practice your craft as a director, and to work with a group of motivated actors.

Requirements

We are looking for directors who bring their own personal touch to the art of directing, and who work well with actors.

The first part of each class is dedicated to training. You can use this time to work on any skills that you think are relevant to screen acting.

Actors' scenes will be filmed in the second part of each session. Your role is to provide adjustments and constructive feedback to the actors.

You will have a large degree of autonomy in deciding how you work, within the parameters of what the students have been promised. You can choose to provide scripts or we can supply these for you. We do ask that you choose based on what you believe will serve the interests of the actors.

We will provide all the necessary equipment for filming. Some of the time, we may have a dedicated camera operator, but at other times, it will be up to you and/or the students to manage filming.
